CeNs-LeSs 27th – 29th March 2009
Bonaly Scout Campsite, Edinburgh

CeNs-LeSs is now in its 4th year and has developed each year to become one of the key camps for Explorer Scouts in the annual calendar. First set up to show that there are more Explorers out there than registered on the census (hence the name and spelling!) it was also designed to be taken on the road, taking the camp to the scouts, not the other way about. With a good blend of activities and let your hair down fun it is a great experience for all.

The camp is run by Midlothian District Scout Network and is supported by a host of other leaders and Network members from across Scotland. The organising team are supported by the Assistant Regional Commissioner for the South East of Scotland, with the young people taking the lead. Who better to know what a young person wants in a camp than a young person themselves?!

The camp is a mix of adventurous activities on the Saturday, many off site and are chosen from what is available locally. This gives the camp that extra difference each year as new activities are available on the doorstep. The evening of the Saturday sees the Explorer Scouts sit down together for an evening meal (the only one supplied by the team) followed by the fancy dress party – this years theme being travel.

Sunday sees the return of messy games (very old clothes are essential for this). A host of small challenges taking place with a whole lot of food stuffs being thrown about! This is the highlight of the camp, with the young people being able to let their hair down and have some fun – being senseless you may call it?!

The camp will cost £30 per head, with an early booking fee of £27 if you book before 1st March 2009. The final closing date is 22nd March 2009. Each unit MUST attend with a leader, their fee is £10 for the weekend. The camp does book out early so please book up quickly to avoid disappointment. As the theme is travel please enclose a passport sized photograph for all participants and leaders.

Please note that in conjunction with the Scout Association’s alcohol policy there will be no alcohol permitted on site, for leaders or young people. Anyone found consuming alcohol will be sent home at their own expense. If this is the leader and then the unit may well be sent home with them.
