Bennachie Challenge BOOKINGS ARE COMING IN THICK AND FAST - TO ENSURE YOUR PLACE SEND YOUR APPLICATION ASAP! When?Gordon Area Explorers would like to invite you all to The Bennachie Challenge being held on the 21st to 23rd September 2007. Where? This Camp will be held at the Gordon Area Campsite at Daviot. This is a wooded site with great views of the surrounding countryside and the local hill Bennachie. The site even has its own stone circle. The site is only 10 mins away from Inverurie and transport can be provided from the bus/railway stations. Camping is between the trees on a number of small sites with facilities for open fires. What? As we know, explorers don't like going to bed so the plan is to keep you up late and allow a bit of a lie in if you want! Programme for the camp is as follows: Friday Arrive, Set up camp, Fancy Dress Disco till midnight followed by a camp fire. To make it easy there is no theme for the fancy dress – just dress as you want to. There will be lots of prizes for the fancy dress: Best Male, Best Female, Best Cross Dresser, Best Team, Best Animal look alike and loads more! Saturday Leisurely start – breakfast at 9am All day we will be running walk in activity bases around the site that you can choose to do as few or as many as possible. Some activities may require you to sign up for an allotted time on the Friday night. These bases will include: Aerial Runway Crate Climbing Archery/Shooting Graffiti Wall InflatablesCrafts Back woods cooking Team Events: Five a side football Five a side touch rugby Volley Ball Tug of war Timed Events: Assault Course Chariot Build and Race Cannon Build and Race More will be added nearer the time. After dinner will be the Bennachie Challenge. You will be bussed over to the bottom of Bennachie and have to make you way to a number challenge bases set up around and on the hill. Points will be awarded depending how well you perform at each base and there will be prizes for the winning team. The Bennachie Challenge will finish around 2:00am. Supper will be provided when you get back and a campfire will run on until the early hours of the morning. Sunday Brunch will be served between 10:00 and 11:00. After Brunch we will have a Highland Games and hopefully a pipe band - Please let us know if you can play the pipes/drums and and want to join in. Award Ceremony and camp close 13:00- 14:00A pack lunch will be provided for your journey home. How Much?The cost of the camp is £30 which includes activities and food.
