SCOTTISH EXPLORER SCOUT ACTIVITY CHALLENGE CAMP 2009

UPDATE
In order to make it easier for teams to enter and travel to the event and make all food included in the £108 per team. In addition units can put in part teams and these will be charged at £18 per person and teams can be made up at the weekend. (These changes may not be reflected in the booklets below)
WHAT IS IT?
‘Explore! Explore! Explore!’ is the Scottish National Explorer Activity Challenge.
It is a fully programmed weekend of activity and competition being run from Everton Scout campsite nr Inverkip.
The camp will have a range of activities, challenges and ‘daftness’ over the weekend, including disco, volleyball, cooking, trampoline, swimming, scouting skills, challenge hike on the local hills …There will be a not too serious competitive element to keep you on your toes
The camp will start on the Friday evening, with the competition running through till Saturday dinner, when the competition stops and the party starts!
The competition will then start again on the Sunday, finishing at 3.00pm with the presentation of the Andy Matthew Trophy.
The camp is under canvas (i.e. in tents) and is based round the idea of a lightweight camp, and so teams should plan to be able to carry all the equipment they bring with them in 1 lift.
All meals will be provided.
We want as many Explorer units as possible to apply to come and would love to have reps from every District in Scotland..
The cost for the event is £18 per person (£108 per team, 6 in a team). This includes Saturday Dinner, and travel are not included.
Places will be allocated on a first come (paid) first served basis, but we are hoping to have space for all those who apply. Teams must have 6 Explorers and Districts can enter as many teams as they wish.
The organisers would like anyone who wants to come along and run a base to join the Leader team and a form is enclosed with the booklet for any who may wish to do so. We have some ideas for bases but would appreciate new ideas for activities. Everyone has got something to offer, so please volunteer to help (and get some of your other Leaders to join you), the more Leaders we have the better!
WHEN IS IT?
June 12th – 14th h 2009, as it says on the previous page.
Arrival is on Friday night between 7.00pm and 9.00pm, and should be in full uniform. All teams should be registered by 9.00pm
The Camp will finish at 3.00pm on the Sunday.
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
A brief outline programme is given below:
Friday night: Arrival and set up camp.
Evening activities from 9.30 pm.
Saturday Daytime: Full day Challenge Hike followed by swim in an open air pool
Saturday Evening: Dinner (provided) followed by Explorer Party and Disco
Sunday: Games and Fun activities
Teams should have 6 members, all of whom must be within the age range for the Explorer section. If you have difficulty getting a full team please contact the camp organiser, details given below, as composite teams may be arranged.
WHAT NEXT?
• If you or your unit are interested in coming, please return the enclosed form ASAP along with the camp fee of £108
• Completed forms should be returned to Scottish Headquarters by 26th May at the latest. Any applications received after this date may not be accepted. All rules and joining details will then be sent to the registered teams.
• Cheques should be made payable to “SHQ – The Scout Association”, a receipt will be sent out for all money received.
